Panasonic Adds 12-35mm f/2.8 G-Series Lens

Secaucus, N.J., –

Panasonic

introduced Monday the standard zoom lens Lumix G X Vario 12-35mm/F2.8
ASPH./Power OIS (H-HS12035) for its Micro Four Thirds compact system camera
(CSC) line.

The lens, which will ship in August at a price to be announced,
is part of Panasonic’s premium lens brand X, which is compatible with the
Panasonic Lumix G series and complies with the Micro Four Thirds system standard.

The lens offers a 12-35mm (35mm camera equivalent: 24-70mm) zoom
range and features a bright F2.8 aperture through the entire zoom range.

 Panasonic said the lens is
suitable for professionals and enthusiasts looking for a wide range of uses,
from shooting landscapes to available light or studio-lit portraits.

The lens uses Panasonic’s Nano Surface Coating technology to minimizes
reflections and reduce ghosts and flaring.

An integrated Power Optical Image Stabilizer (OIS) compensates
for both small, fast movement and large, slow movement, making it easy to shoot
extremely clear photos in low-lit situations such as at night or indoors.

The Lumix G X Vario 12-35mm/F2.8 ASPH./Power OIS lens features a
compact design, measuring 2.9 inches in length, and weighs 10.76 ounces.

A rubber ring on the lens mount is designed to stand up against
splash and dust making. A metal mounting ring is offered for durability.

The lens system is comprised of 14 lenses in nine groups.  The Ultra Extra-Low Dispersion (UED) lens minimizes
chromatic aberration while the Ultra High Refractive (UHR) lens provides high
descriptive performance across the frame, Panasonic said.

An inner-focus system driven by a silent stepping motor keeps
image quality high for still and video work, and lens length small. Seven
blades give the aperture a rounded shape that produces an attractively smooth
defocus effect in out-of-focus areas when shooting at larger aperture settings.
