Palm Opens Five New Stores

Sunnyvale, Calif. — Palm opened five new Palm Retail Stores in California, bringing its total store count to 22 since the first Palm location opened three years ago.

Palm said the chain is profitable, but it would not break out store revenue. The company said the key purpose of the locations is to reach new users and further the Palm “experience.”

Palm said of its total store customers, 43 percent are new to handheld computing and 56 percent of these new users purchase Treo smartphones.

The stores are mostly situated in airports and malls. New locations include a store in Los Angeles, at The Grove shipping destination; two in San Francisco International Airport; one in the Valley Fair mall in San Jose, Calif.; and one at Palm headquarters, here.
