 Osawa Named Sharp U.S. CEO, Chairman

Mahwah, N.J. – Toshiyuki Osawa has been named the new CEO and
chairman of

Sharp Electronics Corp

., the
U.S. subsidiary of Sharp Corp., and executive officer, group general manager,
North and South America Group of Sharp Corp., the company said Wednesday.

Osawa replaces Kozo Takahashi, who becomes Sharp Corp. executive
VP, chief sales and marketing officer and group general manager, global business
group.

 Osawa is a 27-year veteran
of Sharp Corp., most recently serving as president of Sharp Electronics sales
(China). This will be Osawa’s second assignment in the United States, after
serving from 1996 to 2003 as part of the management team of Sharp Electronics
Corp.’s consumer electronics group.

As chairman and CEO, Osawa will oversee overall direction,
management and administration of all corporate operations for the company’s
various divisions and will be responsible for the strategic vision for the
company, according to a statement announcing the promotion.

exciting time for the company,” said Osawa. 
“Mr. Takahashi’s strong guidance and leadership has positioned the
company for success. As the U.S. economy continues to strengthen, I hope to use
my experience to enhance sustainable growth as well as use Sharp’s unique
strengths in LCD and solar-cell production to help grow the brand and
contribute to future successes.”
