OfficeMax Adds Kindle To e-Reader Selection

Naperville, Ill. –

OfficeMax

expanded its e-reader selection
again with the addition of Amazon’s 3G-equipped Kindle, which becomes available
Aug. 7 in stores nationwide.

The announcement follows OfficeMax’s July
30 availability of the Barnes & Noble Simple
Touch Reader and Nook Color Reader in stores nationwide and at OfficeMax.com.

They’ll join two models from
Aluratek and two from Pandigital. Both Aluratek models are sold on the
company’s website, as is one of the Pandigital models. The Pandigital models
are also sold through the website.

The e-reader additions are part
of a company expansion into mobile products. The company began selling tablets
late last year and expanded the selection this year, adding the BlackBerry
Playbook in April, Acer’s Iconia in May, and the Hewlett-Packard TouchPad and
Toshiba Thrive in July. They joined the Motorola Xoom and Galaxy Tab.

In June, the retailer
entered the cellphone business with Virgin Mobile prepaid service in select
stores nationwide. The retailer began
offering the MiFi2200 mobile hotspot, Ovation MC760 USB modem and BlackBerry
Curve 8530 smartphone.
