Nuvola UHD Player Adds Ouya Gaming Support

San Jose, Calif. — NanoTech Entertainment has signed a worldwide software agreement with video-game platform developer Ouya to embed Ouya’s gaming system in NanoTech’s Nuvola NP-1 4K Ultra HD streaming media player.

Beginning this quarter, the gaming option will be placed in the Nuvola User Experience on the device as part of the new Ouya Everywhere initiative, targeting new platforms for the gaming system.

NanoTech said the agreement will allow NP-1 users to access hundreds of games, with more added each month.

NanoTech’s multifunction Nuvola NP-1 4K Ultra HD streaming media player is currently in production and will be available for new customers this quarter at a $299 suggested retail.

The Nuvola NP-1 system is powered by an Nvidia Tegra 4 processor and compatible with the Ouya wireless controller.

“During our first year, we’ve worked with emerging and established game developers to bring Ouya users a huge offering of original content,” said Julie Uhrman, Ouya CEO. “Our Ouya Everywhere initiative is about expanding beyond our hardware to bring these titles into as many living rooms as possible. NanoTech is exactly the kind of partner we like working with, and we can’t wait to introduce our games to NP-1 users.”

In addition to being able to play Ouya-exclusive games, the Nuvola NP-1 can decode 4K Ultra HD content as well as HD, SD and 3D movies. It can also stream content from a variety of sources, including the bundled UltraFlix UHD channel, featuring more than 100 hours of Ultra HD content.

“Ouya is well-known as an innovator in the TV gaming space,” Aaron Taylor, NanoTech sales and marketing executive VP. “We’re excited about the NP-1 opening up a whole new world of gaming for our customers. One of the key features we know our NP-1 users will enjoy is that they can try out hundreds of titles for free before deciding if they want to buy them.”

Both the Ouya platform and the Nuvola NP-1 are based on Google’s Android operating system.

Nuvola NP-1 users who have an Ouya game controller will be able to connect up to four controllers for multiplayer gaming.

The Nuvola NP-1 device measures 3.5 inches by 4 inches, and includes a built-in Ethernet port, two-by-two Wi-Fi and Bluetooth communications to connect with controllers and remotes, and a USB port for wired connections.
