New York — Nokia launched a subscription-free and ad-free free music-streaming service exclusively for Nokia Lumia smartphones in the U.S.
With the service, Nokia Music in the USA, users can automatically create playlists inspired by specific artists from a library of millions of songs, the company said. Consumers can also stream music from more than 150 exclusive playlists curated by U.S.-based musicologists. Nokia Music also offers playlists created by global artists such as Lana Del Rey, Lady Gaga and Rihanna.
Although streaming requires a wireless connection, users can also download songs from particular playlists for off-line listening.
U.S. consumers who own the Nokia Lumia 900 or 710, both Windows Smartphone-based, can download the Nokia Music app for free from Microsoft’s Marketplace.
Separately, Nokia Music, AT&T and Green Day will launch a promotion based on the band’s new album Uno. Green Day will perform an exclusive concert and provide exclusive playlists to Nokia Music for AT&T subscribers.
