— Niles is coming to the CEDIA Expo to upgrade its Directed Soundfield (DS) and step-up ICS series of in-ceiling speakers.

Niles is updating the line by adding narrow-bezel, low-profile, magnetically attached grilles to look as unobtrusive as possible.

To the ICS series, the brand is also adding integrated custom-tuned Rear Wave Control (RWC) enclosures to deliver predictable audio performance and reduce unwanted sound from entering adjacent rooms. On the DS series, the enclosures are available for the first time as an option.

Each speaker in both series is said to feature a unique shape to fit easily through a cutout to simplify installation, particularly in retrofit applications.

The ICS speakers are part of the Niles IntelliControl ICS line, which is exclusive to select pre-authorized dealers.

The SKUs in the DS series consist of 7- and 8-inch models, including:

• the DS7MP LCR with 7-inch glass fiber woofer cone, 1-inch soft dome tweeter, dialog switch for center channel applications, and tweeter-level switch;

• the DS7PR LCR with 7-inch glass fiber woofer cone, 1-inch fluid-cooled dome tweeter, dialog switch and tweeter- level control; and

• the DS7HD LCR with 7-inch IMPACT (Improved Aluminum Ceramic Technology) woofer cone, 1-inch titanium- nano-coated IMPACT tweeter, Kapton non-conductive voice coil former and copper shorting caps, dialog switch, and tweeter-level switch.
