Niles Downsizes Subwoofers

Carlsbad, Calif. – Niles Audio will
expand its powered subwoofer lineup with its first two mini subs, which are due
this month.

The $499-suggested SW6.5 and $599
SW8 are cube-shaped models whose sides are, respectively, less than 10 inches
and about 12 inches for discreet placement.

Both feature fingerprint-resistant
piano-black finish, long-throw front-firing woofer with dual long-throw
side-mounted passive radiators, automated turn-on via 12 volt trigger or audio
signal sensing, and built-in CAT5 balun to enable audio delivery over CAT5
cable.

Both come with ability to mount to the wall or ceiling in light-commercial installations via optional Omnimount 30.0ST-MP bracket. Both also connect to an optional wireless receiver to eliminate a cable run to an audio source.

The SW6.5 features 6.5-inch active
driver, two 6.5-inch passive radiators, and 200-watt RMS (800-watt peak)
amplifier to deliver a frequency response of 42-200Hz.

The SW8 incorporates 300-watt RMS
(1,200-watt peak) amp, an 8-inch active driver and two 8-inch passive radiators
to deliver a frequency response of 36-200Hz.

The adjustable frequency control
features a bypass position to eliminate the sub’s internal low-pass filtering.
A variable phase control operates from zero to 180 degrees to allow for phase
matching with the main speakers.
