Melville, N.Y. — Nikon announced a number of organizational and personnel changes on March 3, aimed at expanding the company’s engineering and technical support capabilities as well as streamlining the internal management structure of the company.
Nikon created a new product, technology and engineering department at its US headquarters, here, to assist in developing new technology as well to provide technical support.
Nikon is also reorganizing some departments within the company, consolidating separate groups within Nikon’s marketing divisions under a single marketing department. Nikon’s sales department has also undergone similar consolidation to unify Nikon’s sales force under one umbrella department.
Concurrent with the departmental shuffle were a spate of promotions among the senior management of the company.
David C. Lee was promoted to senior vice president of Nikon where he will supervise the marketing, sales, communications and Internet development departments.
Richard LoPinto was named senior vice president of the new product, technology and engineering department, overseeing the development of new technology and product concepts for all Nikon imaging products.
Jerry Grossman was tapped vice president of marketing, responsible for all Nikon imaging products, including consumer and professional 35mm film and digital cameras, SLRs, and film scanners.
Joseph Carfora was promoted to vice president of sales. Jay Vannatter was elevated to national sales manager, charged with national sales in the photo specialty division.
Steven Heiner was named general manager for digital SLR cameras and Nikkor lenses, and finally, Ed Fasano was promoted to general manager for film products, DealerNet and accessories department where he will oversee the company’s e-tail site Nikon Mall and Nikon’s DealerNet.
