Nikon Adds Android Coolpix, DX Zoom Lens

Melville, N.Y. — Nikon introduced Thursday an Android-powered Coolpix S810c point-and-shoot camera and a lightweight 18-300mm f/3.5-6.3 telephoto zoom lens for DX-format D-SLRs.

The Nikon Coolpix S810c will be available in May in black and white at a $349.95 suggested retail price. The AF-S DX Nikkor 18-300mm f/3.5-6.3G will ship in May with an $899.95 suggested retail.

The S810c features built-in Wi-Fi, runs the Android OS, and includes access to apps through Google Play.

It is equipped with a 16-megapixel BSI CMOS sensor and 12x Nikkor optical zoom lens and 24x Dynamic Fine zoom. The camera includes Lens-Shift Vibration Reduction (VR).

The S810c’s ISO sensitivity ranges up to 3,200, and supported video resolution tops out at 1080p. The camera includes a 3.7-inch touchscreen LCD monitor

The AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-300mm f/3.5-6.3G ED VR, is billed as a versatile and lightweight telephoto zoom lens for DX-format cameras. It features a 16.7x zoom range and is well suited for close-ups, landscapes, portraits, architecture, stills or Full 1080p HD video capture.

The lens is 30 percent lighter than the previous 18-300mm f/3.5-5.6G lens

Other features include VR and four stops of stabilization.
