La Verne, Calif. — Nextar is shipping a Spanish/English personal navigation device (PND) at a suggested retail of $199.
The M3-MX has 2-D and 3-D maps of the United States and Mexico and offers all menus and voice prompts in English and Spanish. It has a 3.5-inch screen, 1.6 million points of interest, SD card slot, MP3 player and photo viewer.
Andy Frankel, business development and operations VP, said Nextar will ship 1.2 million PNDs this season. The company is seeking to position itself between the top-tier brands and the “sea of Chinese manufacturers who are trying to knock on retail doors, who didn’t have a customer care structure, but they had price.”
The M3-MX is available at Walmart.com and other outlets.
