Newer Technology Bows miniStack v2.5

Woodstock, Ill. — Newer Technology has announced the miniStack v2.5 FireWire 400/USB 2.0-powered hub storage solution.

This latest plug-and-play external-powered hub storage solution is said to be ideal for data intensive uses. It is designed to function as a centralized desktop hub for connection multiple digital devices such as scanners, printers, memory card readers, digital cameras and iPods simultaneously.

The device measures 6.5 inches by 6.5 inches by 1.5 inches and operates using the Oxford 934 bridge chipset, a 7,200 rpm SATA drive, up to 1TB of storage capacity and up to 32MB of disk cache to “quickly store and retrieve up to 1 million JPEG photos, 350,000 MP3 songs or 500 DVD-quality movies.”

The device features three FireWire 400 and four USB 2.0 ports. It is said to be an idea external hard drive solution for users wishing use the product with devices running off of different operating systems.

According to the company, Mac users can also add the miniStack v2.5 to an Airport Extreme wireless notebook via USB to wirelessly share files, perform Time Machine backups and share other devices.

The device will automatically power on and off with the computer. It features a Kensington security slot, comes with interface connecting cables as well as ProSoft Engineering DataBackup3, NovaStor NovaBackUp and Intech SpeedTools Utilities software.

The miniStack v2.5 is available now in a variety capacities ranging from 80GB to 1TB, with prices starting at $104 through $279.
