City of Industry, Calif. – Newegg.com has launched a Premier membership service that offers expedited shipping and other customer perks.

The program, currently in beta test, mirrors Amazon.com’s Prime service, which provides two-day shipping and access to an expansive library of digital content.

Amazon recently announced a pending increase of $20 to $40 for its program, which currently costs $79 a year.

In contrast, Newegg is charging $50 annually for it Premier service, which provides deliveries in three days or less with no minimum order, plus dedicated customer support and exclusive offers.

Other benefits include free returns with no restocking fees, discounts on overnight and two-day shipping, and advanced notification of upcoming sales and promotions.

“We always seek ways to improve the customer experience and implementing a benefit program is the latest example of how we’re making it easier and more rewarding to shop at Newegg.com,” said Soren Mills, chief marketing officer of Newegg North America.

Newegg is the largest tech-specific e-tailer and 10th largest CE retailer with 25 million registered users and $2.8 billion in electronics sales in 2012, according to TWICE’s annual Top 100 rankings.
