New Digital Frames Debut

New York — Digital Spectrum Solutions and Sungale announced new digital frames recently, taking aim at the high and low end of the budding market.

Digital Spectrum Solutions’ 10.4-inch MemoryFrame 8104 is Wi-Fi enabled and supports Windows Media Connect and Connect Now functionality. It features 256MB of internal memory, digital music and video playback, a memory card reader and USB slot.

The wireless frame is capable of viewing images stored on photo Web sites such as Webshots, Flickr, Windows Live Spaces and Digital Spectrum’s “My Memory Frame” page.

The frame is shipping now for a suggested $349.

Sungale announced a new model and pricing strategy. It will position a new 5.6-inch frame (the CP6C) as its new entry-level model at a suggested $79. The company had previously offered a 7-inch frame as its entry piece but said it switched to a smaller size to properly display standard digital images (the 7-inch model cropped standard 4:3 ratio photos to fit the frame’s 16:9 screen).

The new model supports the popular memory card formats and video and MP3 playback through built-in speakers. It features a VGA resolution screen with a 450:1 contrast ratio.
