New Age Joins Synnex At National Conference

GREENVILLE, S.C. – IT, CE and gaming distributor New Age Electronics piggybacked its annual Executive Dealer Summit with parent company Synnex’s 2013 National Conference here earlier this month.

The move was designed to make customers better aware of the full supply-chain resources and sales opportunities available through Synnex, a global Fortune 500 company based here.

In his opening remarks, New Age and Jack of All Games president Fred Towns noted that his group services 85 of the Top 100 CE retailers ranked by TWICE, and that its growth has been trending at 12 percent, far outpacing the industry’s 2 percent gains.

He attributed the increases to New Age’s unique tools and services, including customized product bundles; extended assortments through drop shipping; concierge service for end users; refurbishment and resale of returns; and electronic software downloads (ESD), which provide add-on sales opportunities and allow customers including Walmart to pre-configure PCs and create “sticky” relationships with customers.

New Age also provides in-store display and design services, as employed for the Hewlett-Packard shop at Nebraska Furniture Mart, and supports unique channels worldwide including the U.S. military, Towns said.

Following his presentation, TWICE VP/publisher Ed Hecht moderated a retail marketing panel that addressed audience responses to an instant survey covering such topics as social media, Ultra High-Definition TV, wearable technology and home automation.

Other highlights of the three-day conference, which drew 1,600 dealers, resellers and vendors, included drive time at BMW’s nearby performance center test track and a closing-night concert by the Beach Boys featuring actor John Stamos on drums.
