LAS VEGAS — CE, IT and gaming distributor New Age Electronics has added Kindle and Beats by Dr. Dre to its lineup for this year.
New Age, a division of Synnex, has been authorized by Amazon.com to distribute its complete family of Kindle products and accessories including Kindle, Kindle Paperwhite, Kindle Fire, Kindle Fire HD and the 8.9-inch Kindle Fire HD.
New Age is the second distributor tapped by Amazon to dispense its best-selling tablet and e-reader line.
“We are thrilled to distribute the Kindle family to retailers, especially in an age where tablets are in higher demand than PCs and continue to be critical to the future of the CE retail space,” said New Age president Fred Towns.
Separately, Beats Electronics has named New Age its exclusive U.S. distributor of branded Beats by Dr. Dre headphones and Audio HD sound systems.
The announcement comes one year after Beats parted ways with Monster by allowing its five-year contract to expire.
Under terms of the new distribution agreement, which went into effect Jan. 1, Beats will authorize New Age dealers based on a set of forecasting, display and training requirements.
Denise Morales, executive sales VP for Beats by Dr. Dre, said, “We chose New Age Electronics because of its superior and trusted reputation and ability to effectively bring unique offerings to the retail channel.”
Added Towns, “New Age Electronics is honored to represent and support one of the hottest brands in high-end audio products. The premium sound experience of Beats products, along with the brand’s strong consumer allure and stature, makes this an exciting collaboration for New Age Electronics and our retailers.”
