Nationwide Named Energy Star Partner

Washington — The Nationwide Marketing Group (NMG) has been named a 2013 Energy Star Partner of the Year by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

The buying and marketing group for independent dealers was recognized for its outstanding contribution to reducing greenhouse gas emissions by educating consumers about energy-efficient products, EPA said. A formal awards ceremony in will be held here on March 26.

The 2013 Partner of the Year Awards are given to manufacturers and retailers that successfully promote and deliver high-efficiency Energy Star-certified products. NMG, a multiyear award winner, was selected from the nearly 20,000 organizations that participate in the EPA program.

“EPA is recognizing Nationwide Marketing Group for [its] commitment to sales and marketing of Energy Star products,” said Bob Perciasepe, the agency’s acting administrator. “Nationwide provides leadership in the marketplace by helping customers reduce their energy bills and carbon pollution at the same time.”

Added NMG senior marketing VP Rick Weinberg, “Nationwide has once again demonstrated its heritage of Energy Star marketing leadership by creating sales and marketing programs designed to transform the mix of Energy Star qualified products sold to consumers. Our partnership with Energy Star helps us meet our customers’ needs while also offering them the benefits of saving money on energy bills and protecting the environment.”

By raising awareness of Energy Star’s brand and training programs through its traditional and digital communications initiatives, the group’s member dealers “have increased leverage to drive the sales of Energy Star-qualified models and move towards the retirement of older, less efficient major appliances and consumer electronics,” NMG said.

According to the EPA, the Energy Star program has helped American families and businesses save more than $230 billion on utility bills and prevented more than 1.8 billion metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions over the last 20 years.

Nationwide, based in Winston-Salem, N.C., has more than 3,500 independent majap, CE and home-furnishings dealer members with more than 10,000 storefronts and a combined $14 billion in annual sales.
