Murasawa Named New Toshiba President

Wayne, N.J. — Atsushi Murasawa has been appointed the new president and CEO of Toshiba America Consumer Products (

Murasawa replaces Akio Ozaka, who has returned to Japan. Murasawa is said to have a strong background in global marketing and sales and has helped Toshiba advance the growth of key markets worldwide.

Murasawa is being brought onboard as the company builds momentum for its new line of digital home entertainment products in the United States.

“As one of the world’s leading innovators in next-generation connectivity and video technologies, Toshiba is bringing to life the real benefits of the digital home,” Murasawa stated. “We are committed to delivering on the promise of a digital lifestyle with high quality products that help consumers quickly and easily access and enjoy content and information services in the home.”

Murasawa joined Toshiba in 1984. Over the course of his tenure there he has held positions in Japan and Europe. From 1998 to 2006 he served in Germany, France and the U.K. overseeing pan-European sales and marketing of digital products. He returned to Japan in 2006, where, most recently, he was senior manager in the business planning department of the TV division.
