More BMWs To Get Standard HD Radio

Columbia, Md. – BMW will make HD Radio standard in the
1 series, 3 series and Z4 Roadster in the fall in 2010 models, HD Radio
developer iBiquity Digital said. HD
Radio is currently an option in these vehicles but is standard in the 2009 BMW
7 Series and 6 Series.

The 2010 BMW 1 series, 3 series and Z4 Roadster will be available
in BMW dealerships by October 2009.

Also, Wednesday, iBiquity said that a future flagship Jaguar luxury sport sedan-the 2010 Jaguar XJ– due early next year will also include HD Radio as a standard feature, joining other Jaguar models that also offer digital radio.

HD Radio stations are available to 85 percent of the U.S.
population, iBiquity said. More than 2,000 HD Radio stations are on the air,
and many of the FM stations are multicasting more than 1,000 HD2 and HD3
programs simultaneously with their main program.
