Modia Chain Plans Four More Stores

Houston — Modia, formerly Home Theater Store, will expand by opening four new stores. The stores are slated to open in the spring and will be located in the West University and Sugar Land areas of Houston and in Allen and Plano, Texas.

The new stores represent a 50 percent increase for the chain, which already operates eight locations in Texas and Arizona.

“The new sites are all in upscale retail shopping districts that complement the Modia business model,” said CEO Mihir Mody in a release. “Our holiday sales met expectations and the response to the new Modia brand has been overwhelmingly positive.”

The company launched under its new Modia brand in November. The high-end retailer said the new name “reflects the company’s leading role in combining technology and design to help clients create customized home environments.”

“We felt that we needed a name that better reflects our new business model,” said Mody. “Considering the response we’ve had, we are more confident that this model reflects the future of our company.”

The Pro Group dealer has been in operation more than 20 years; it was founded by the Mody family as Home Theater Store in 1986 and it continues to be family-operated. The company is listed among TWICE’s top 100 consumer electronics retailers.
