Mobile Edge Buys Sumo Brand

Anaheim, Calif. – Computer bags manufacturer Mobile
Edge has acquired the Sumo brand of carrying cases from HS International.

The deal comes less than a year after Mobile Edge formed a
strategic alliance with the brand, taking over the production and sales of the
Sumo collection of laptop cases geared toward Apple MacBooks last September.
Terms of the purchase were not disclosed.

“By acquiring Sumo, we continue to broaden our product offering
as well as expand the laptop case category,” said G. David Cartwright, Mobile
Edge president/CEO. “The unique Sumo brand and original designs provide us an
alternative product collection in fashion forward styles and colors that
complement our current Mobile Edge assortment. We are very pleased with the
initial reception we have received for the Sumo products from our resellers.”

According to Mobile Edge, the company is rapidly expanding the
Sumo product line and has more than doubled the number of SKUs being offered
since the alliance was formed.

In addition to offering Sumo’s line of signature notebook and
netbook sleeves, a new line of products is being launched in the second half.
Dubbed the Sumo Lifestyle Collection, it will include non-computer related
totes, duffels and a range of collapsible storage cubes.

The companies’ Web sites have
been merged and redesigned
to reflect the new product mix.
