Mitsubishi Announces New Dye-Sub Printer

Irvine, Calif. — Mitsubishi Digital Electronics added a new dye-sublimation photo printer for use with its retail print kiosks to its product line today.

The new CP-9800DW can produce a 4-inch by 6-inch print in 8.7 seconds and 100 prints in 15 minutes, the company claimed.

The unit offers 300 dpi resolution and four borderless print sizes: 3.5 inches by 5 inches, 4 inches by 6 inches, 5 inches by 7 inches, and 6 inches by 9 inches.

The printer works with the recently announced Flexible Photo Lab kiosk, which uses the existing DPS Click 5000 as a print server accessible by up to 10 DPS Kiosk 7000 terminals. It can connect to up to five of the CP-9550DW-U or CP-3020DAU dye-sublimation printers, in addition to the new 9800DW.

The system can be configured according to retailer preference and supports up to six print sizes, the popular flash-memory formats, USB drives, CDs and Bluetooth.
