Microsoft Launches Art Of Touch Program

Redmond, Wash. – Microsoft
launched an international art program on Thursday inspired by its line of Touch
mice.

The Art of Touch program
allows users to create digital artwork on a

website

, and then share and vote on that work. The user with
the most votes on Dec. 31 will be awarded “featured artist” status on the site
and a variety of Microsoft gear. The company will also be running several prize
giveaways until Feb. 4, 2012.

The site currently has a
number of art effects, and more will roll out throughout the campaign,
Microsoft said. When the art is shared on a social network, people will be able
to vote for their favorites, and the artwork can later be used to create custom
device covers.

Generative artist Marius
Watz will help kick off the campaign tonight at the Microsoft Store at
University Village in Seattle.
