MetroPCS Adds Galaxy Mega Phablet

Bellevue, Wash. — T-Mobile’s MetroPCS prepaid brand became the latest carrier to offer Samsung’s 6.3-inch Galaxy Mega smartphone/tablet hybrid.

The phablet will be available in MetroPCS corporate stores and in independently owned MetroPCS stores in the brand’s 45 markets, as well as online, starting Nov. 21 for as low as $349 after instant rebates.

Information on whether the phablet would also be available through national retailers wasn’t available.

The phablet is already available from Sprint at $99 with postpaid plan, U.S. Cellular at $149, and AT&T at $149.

The Galaxy Mega features Android 4.2.2, 1.7GHz dual-core CPU, 1.5GB of RAM and expandable storage via MicroSD card. It also features Air View, which lets users hover a finger an inch above the screen to preview emails and photos, initiate speed-dial and even magnify text.

Multi Window split-screen multitasking allows users to run multiple apps on one screen simultaneously.

The phone was unveiled in May.
