MediaGear Intros New USB Drive

Santa Ana, Calif. — Peripheral manufacturer MediaGear introduced the next generation of its XtraDrive USB flash drive product that uses removable flash memory cards for memory.

The drives are essentially USB drives with flash memory card slots. The company is pitching the drive to give consumers the ability to use the low-capacity flash memory cards that are now sitting unused. Such as the 16MB or 32MB cards normally supplied with a new digital camera.

The XtraDrives are available for SD, MMC Memory Stick, CompactFlash Type I and II, MicroDrive, SmartMedia and xD for a suggested retail price of $14.95.

The drives feature a colored, transparent cap and ships with an 18-inch USB adapter cable.
