Maxell Enters Flash-Memory Market

Fair Lawn, N.J. – Maxell
announced today it is entering the flash-memory market and debuted a line of
new products to mark this entry.

According to a release put out by the company, five USB drives
are being introduced, along with an SD card, MicroSD card and high-speed CF
card.

The USB drives include the USB Basic, available in blue and
silver; USB Slider, with a side-push design and password protection; USB 360˚, with rotating cover and
password protection; USB Style, with password protection and encryption
technology; and USB+,
which is described by Maxell as incorporating the technology of a
high-speed USB flash drive with a MicroSD card reader.

Maxell said the products will be offered in 2GB to 16GB storage
capacities. Availability and pricing was not given, and Maxell did not respond
to TWICE’s inquiry for more information as of this posting.

Regarding the company’s entry into the flash market, Maxell said
in the release: “The new Maxell lineup of high-performance flash media is a
natural extension for the company that has been providing high-capacity storage
solutions for over 40 years.”
