MARTA Cooperative of America held its summer buying convention here and celebrated its 40th anniversary last week at the Scottsdale Princess Resort.
Besides celebrating its anniversary, the gathering also served to re-emphasize the group’s 2004 goals of renewing its focus on core suppliers and providing “tightly orchestrated second-half merchandising,” the group said.
In addition, key operational factors including insurance, advertising, extended warranties and service were to play a greater role at the show, providing enhanced “depth to the group’s efforts,” the co-op said.
At press time, scheduled highlights were to include a welcome reception and Western-themed dinner at the nearby Monterra at WestWorld events facility, and a Toshiba-sponsored golf tournament.
The convention followed MARTA’s Partners in Progress Conference, a new initiative held this past June at the Turnberry Hotel in Aventura, Fla., where members and key manufacturers participated in second-half planning meetings and dealers attended best practices sessions.
