Sunnyvale, Calif. – Wearable digital camcorder manufacturer
has introduced the Looxcie 2 video
cam that wirelessly links to an iPhone or Android phone.
The Looxcie 2 is said to weigh 20 percent less and is almost half
the size of the original, while still offering all of the features and social
networking benefits of the previous model.
Additionally, Looxcie said it has introduced new attachment
accessories to expand the ways users can wear and use the camera, including
mounting it on a helmet or handlebars.
Looxcie 2 comes in two configurations: the first carries a $199 suggested retail and
stores up to 10 hours of video recordings on 8 GBs of memory and the other
carries a $179 suggested retail and stores up to 5 hours of video on 4GBs of
memory.
A companion Looxcie smartphone app can be downloaded for free
from the Android Marketplace or iPhone App Store to link the camera/headset to
the phone.
The Looxcie 2 was said to have been designed for hands-free
point-of-view shooting.
“When a memorable moment occurs that is worth preserving or
sharing, the instant clip button automatically rewinds, captures and saves the
moment as a permanent clip,” Looxcie said.
Through the phone link, video can be instantly shared to sites
like Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.
The LooxcieMoments smartphone companion app can record in either
320p or 480p video resolution. Software
and firmware upgrades are compatible with the original Looxcie.

Looxcie 2 utilizes a dual processor system for simultaneous video
capture and wireless communication. The
Looxcie’s video processor software is said to maximize battery life and
optimizes video for viewing, editing and sharing on mobile devices.
The camera weighs less than 1 ounce, and stores video files in
MP4 format.
Looxcie 2’s camera headset can be wirelessly tethered via
Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR and eSCO from up to 10 meters away, with Bluetooth Hands
Free Profile 1.5 supported for telephone calls.
A 365mAh Li Polymer battery supplies power to the camera for to 4
hours of continuous video recording per charge, and DSP noise reduction is added
for enhanced audio performance.
