Newark, Calif. — Logitech has begun shipping the Harmony Smart Keyboard, designed for seamless control of streaming media devices.
The device can work with up to eight devices and is compatible with more than 225,000 home-entertainment devices and more than 5,000 brands through a setup assistant, according to the company, eliminating the need for multiple remotes.
Other features include a built-in touchpad for onscreen scrolling; TV, DVR and game-console command buttons; and the ability to stand on one end for space-saving storage.
Suggested retail is $149, and it comes packaged with the Harmony Hub, a small base station that adds RF capabilities to the Smart Keyboard. Using the Hub in conjunction with a free iOS or Android app enables users to control their TV using their smartphone or tablet. The Hub works without pointing, preventing closed cabinets from obstructing the signal.
