Logitech Acquires TT Design Labs

Fremont, Calif. — Logitech has purchased a Kickstarter-funded startup, TT Design Labs, creators of the TidyTilt iPhone case and the Justmount iPhone wall mount.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

TT Designs was formed less than two years ago to market the TidyTilt, a combination case/kickstand/magnetic mount/ear bud cord wrap for the iPhone. It was developed by two Chicago Institute of Design students, Derek Tarnow and Zahra Tashakorinia, for a graduate school project. They launched on Kickstarter with a $10,000 start-up funding goal and raised more than $223,000.

The duo followed that up with a second product, the Justmount, a magnetic surface mount for the iPhone, and tripled its funding goal, netting more than $33,000.

Tarnow will join Logitech as product designer. Tashakorinia will reportedly act as a consultant.

Tarnow wrote on Logitech’s blog: “When Logitech approached us, we were skeptical at first. Our business plan didn’t include acquisition. But after speaking extensively with the Logitech team, it became clear that we share a vision for where the industry is headed and a passion for building great products. We realized that joining Logitech was an ideal situation — we get to engage the expert engineering, supply chain, distribution and marketing minds at the company, while we get to focus more of our time on what we love most — designing great products with the user in mind.”

The new Logitech-branded TidyTilt and Justmount, updated for iPhone 5, are now available for pre-order at $34.95 and $24.95.
