Living Expositions Calls For ELX 2008 Speakers

Boston — Living Expositions is calling for speakers for its Electronic Living Expo Boston 2008 (ELX 2008) show.

The show, scheduled for Feb. 15-17, 2008, is expected to attract more than 30,000 consumers and exhibitors from across the consumer electronics industry. It will feature a variety of presentations, panel discussions and workshops.

The Boston show is the first of a number of similar shows being planned by Living Expositions. The group expects to bring the show to a number of other cities across the United States.

According to a release, the group is seeking industry experts and educated consumers to share their insights on the following categories: connected home, mobile electronics, home and personal computing, wireless technologies, home entertainment, automotive, gaming, video/photography and social media “unconference” (intended to “give consumers the opportunity to suggest, participate in and lead sessions of their choice on subjects that matter to them).

Living Expositions said it is planning to unveil a social networking site to allow speakers, technologists and consumer electronics professionals to interact with event attendees before and after the show.

“ELX 2008 is a unique opportunity to bring together consumers and consumer electronics manufacturers and retailers to focus on new products and technology and — through our speaking tracks and ‘unconference’ sessions — to discuss the impact of consumer technology on our everyday lives,” said ELX president Dave Garvin in a release. “We expect ELX 2008 will break new ground in spotlighting what’s cool and, more importantly, what’s useful in consumer electronics today and in the years ahead.”

Living Expositions is currently accepting abstracts for how-to workshops, presentations, panel discussions and “birds-of-a-feather” sessions that educate consumers on one of the many aspects of consumer electronics.

The organization is expecting to receive all proposals by Nov. 20. They should include the name, title and company of the speaker; the track and format of the session; and a title and outline of the proposed presentation.

The online submission form is available at http://www/elxcommunity.com/speakers.

Those with questions regarding submissions and speaking opportunities are advised to contact Loni Sotir with any questions at lsotir@livingexpositions.com or (503) 393-7600.
