LG Tablet Now In Google Play Edition

Seoul – LG’s G Pad 8.3 tablet has become the first tablet to be designated by Google as a Google Play Edition tablet.

It joins two Google Play Edition smartphones, one from Samsung and one from Sony.

The devices are available in the Google Play store and are positioned as offering the latest version of the Android OS, being the first to get automatic Android updates, offering a pure Google user experience, and coming preloaded with key Google apps such as Google Now, Chrome, Gmail, and You Tube.

Google priced the Wi-Fi Android 4.4 (KitKat) tablet at $349 in glossy indigo black.

The tablet is already available through U.S. retailers without the Google Play Edition designation.

The tablet, LG’s first in about two years, features 8.3-inch screen, 1920 x 1200 WUXGA full-HD IPS display, 1.7GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor, 2GB RAM, and 16GB storage.
