LG Microsites Help Launch New TVs

Englewood Cliffs, N.J. — LG Electronics has launched what it calls a “microsite” on the Internet to promote its new integrated high-definition/digital video recorders, which will hit retail shelves at the end of April.

The site promoting the new HD plasma/DVR sets is found at www.lgusa.com/plasmadvr. Featured units include the 50W-inch and 60W-inch screen sizes and both models incorporate a built-in 160GB hard drive, which will store both standard and high-definition video programs.

The new sets are also the subject of a print advertising campaign, set to run at the end of the month, targeting such consumer publications as Home Theater Magazine, Sound & Vision, Widescreen Review, Digital TV, PC World, Electronic House, Sports Illustrated, ESPN Magazine, Time, Newsweek and others.

Meanwhile, LG has also added a new microsite linking viewers to either consumer Web sites for LG or Zenith brand products, or to its dealer-centric Web sites supporting both brands. A password log-in is required at the dealer site.

LG said that microsites are to be used as a common tool to communicate the features and benefits of its new innovative digital products.

“Any microsite that is created will be available at one simple location for LG’s dealers to see in their ‘one-stop-shop’ support Web site (www.lgedealers.com),” said a company representative.
