New York - The American team placed behind the winning Korean team yesterday in the first-ever LG Mobile Worldcup global texting championship, held here with teams from 13 countries.
Argentina and Brazil placed third and fourth, respectively.
Teams were judged not only on speed but also on accuracy.
Other two-person teams hailed from Australia, Canada, Indonesia, Mexico, New Zealand, Portugal, Russia, South Africa and Spain. The global championship followed national contests in each country,
The winning team took home $100,000. All contestants were in their teens to early 20s.
