LG Ads Take Shots At 3D Rivals

Englewood Cliffs, N.J. . – On the heels of releasing the findings of
its passive-glasses 3D consumer study,
LG Electronics launched Thursday a new ad campaign taking aim at rivals Samsung
and Sony.

The company ran print ads in leading newspapers, including the
Wall Street Journal and USA Today, on Thursday saying: “Hey/Sony &
Samsung/better stick to 2D.”

Hinting at the market effort to come, LG reportedly announced on
Sunday that Consumer Reports gave 76 points to its passive-glasses-based Cinema
3D TV, surpassing Sony and Samsung sets.

Following the release of the LG consumer study on Wednesday, Samsung’s
visual display products John Revie, marketing senior VP told TWICE that consumers, “are
voting with their dollars” for Samsung’s 3DTV technology, with Samsung taking
better than 60 percent market share in overall 3DTV sales in the U.S. over the
last 12 weeks, according to NPD Group sell-through data.
