Lexington, Kent. — Lexmark announced two new entry-level printers today which use a single cartridge for printing text, graphics or photos.
Using the single cartridge, the Lexmark X2350 all-in-one and Z735 printer can produce up to 15 pages per minute (ppm) in color or black-and-white text, or crank out a 4-inch by 6-inch photo in 38 seconds in QuickPrint mode.
Both printers can produce borderless 4-inch by 6-inch photos with the included Imaging Studio software, one-step photo correction and 4,800 dpi resolution.
The X2350 all-in-one, for a suggested $99, features one-touch scanning and one-touch copying with or without a PC.
The Z735 will retail for a suggested $79. Both units will initially be available with a $30 mail-in rebate.
While the higher end of the photo printer category has been marked by cartridge one-upmanship, Lexmark’s Najib Bahous, consumer printers president, defended the move to a single cartridge as eliminating a “source of consumer frustration” when shopping for replacement inks.
