Lexar Unveils Slate of New Flash Memory Products

Hanover, Germany — Lexar Media announced that it will begin shipping its line of miniSD cards worldwide this month, as well as add two new models to its JumpDrive line of USB flash drives.

Lexar’s miniSD cards, previously available in Japan, will be shipping in capacities of 32MB, 64MB and 128MB, for suggested retails of $29.99, $49.99 and $79.99, respectively. Lexar will ship the cards with a regular SD card adapter, allowing the miniSD cards to transfer data to SD devices.

The company also announced two new versions of its JumpDrive USB flash drive: the JumpDrive Photo and a JumpDrive 2.0 Pro 80x.

The JumpDrive Photo features USB 2.0 connectivity, a 40x speed rating and ships with Lexar’s file recovery software, Image Rescue 2.0. The Photo will be housed in durable plastic with a rubberized cap to safeguard it from nature’s wrath. The drives will ship in April with suggested retail prices of $89.99 (256MB) and $179.99 (512MB). Lexar said it would ship a 1GB and 2GB drive in the spring.

Also shipping in April, the JumpDrive 2.0 Pro 80x features a minimum sustained read and write speed of 12MB per second. It will be available in capacities of 256MB, 512MB and 1GB, for $89.99, $189.99 and $349.99, respectively.

The announcements were made at the CEBIT show, held here.
