Lenovo Provides Olympic Internet Lounges

Beijing — Lenovo, a Worldwide Partner of the Olympic Games and Olympic Torch Relay today opened six Internet lounges, called i.lounges, in the Olympic Villages.

The lounges provide athletes and officials with 260 Internet-connected computers that they can use from 8 a.m. to midnight each day.

The lounges, staffed with Lenovo engineers, will be located in four facilities in the Beijing Olympic Village as well as in the Qingdao and Hong Kong Olympic villages.

The Olympic Games will be held Aug. 8-24, but the i.lounges will remain in operation through the through the Paralympic Games for disabled athletes, scheduled for Sept. 6-17.

In addition to providing its i.lounges, Lenovo said it has also provided IdeaPad notebook PCs to more than 100 athletes from more than 25 countries and 29 sports who have signed up to blog for the company. Their blogs will be posted at www.lenovo.com/voicesofthegames.

In all, the company said it is providing more than 30,000 pieces of computing equipment to manage the operations of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.
