NEW YORK — NewBay Media, publisher of TWICE (This Week in Consumer Electronics), has announced that John Laposky has been named as the brand’s editor in chief. Laposky has served as the magazine’s managing editor since 1995 and has been a vital contributor in print and online, and an important part of the International CES Daily, published by TWICE. Laposky takes over the position from Steve Smith, who transitioned to editor at large at the end of July.
As editor in chief, Laposky’s focus will be on enhancing the brand’s footprint across the social-media landscape, including @TWICEonline on Twitter, and the brand’s pages on Facebook and LinkedIn. Additionally, he will work to bring new content and market areas to TWICE and especially TWICE.com. He will also increase the TWICE peer-topeer presence through additional events — both experiential and virtual.
“John possesses a wide knowledge of the consumer electronics industry,” said Ed Hecht, VP/publisher, TWICE. “He is the right candidate to lead TWICE into the future with an increased focus on our social-media efforts, our expanding suite of digital offerings, and he will lead our charge into growing markets such as wearable technology and home automation. Laposky joined TWICE in 1995 after freelancing with the magazine the previous year. Prior to that he was a copy editor at Home Textiles Today, a trade publication for the homefurnishings market. He has also held positions at Circulation Management, Spin, and The Allentown Morning Call.
