LaCie Bows Designer Drives

Portland, Ore. — LaCie has introduced a new collection of mobile products designed by industrial designer Sam Hecht.

There are three different sizes models available among the company’s line of Little Disk mobile drives. The company offers 1.8-inch drives featuring either 30GB or 60GB of storage; 2.5-inch models are available with memory capacities of 80GB, 120GB, 160GB and 250GB. All six of the aforementioned models featured integrated, extractable USB 2.0 cables for plug-and-play use.

LaCie also offers 2.5-inch combo drives with 120GB, 160GB and 250GB of capacity that feature both a USB 2.0 wire and two FireWire ports.

All of the drives are available now. Pricing for the 1.8-inch models start at $99.99; the 2.5-inch USB drives start at $89.99, and the 2.5-inch combo drives start at $119.99.

Also available now is a portable DVD+/-RW Drive equipped with LightScribe, which allows users to burn “silkscreen-quality labels” directly onto specially coated CDs and DVDs. The drive measures less than one inch tall and is available in FireWire or USB 2.0 bus-powered versions.

According to the company, the USB 2.0 version comes bundled with Easy Media Creator Suite 9 for Windows and carries a suggested retail of $99.99. The FireWire version comes with Toast 8 Titanium and is available for a suggested $149.
