Edison, N.J. – Tasso Koken has left his position as executive VP/merchandising and marketing for The Wiz, but will continue his association with the company as a consultant.
According to a spokeswoman for the New York metro area CE chain, Koken ‘recently decided’ to make the change, and is expected to continue in his new consultancy role ‘for some time.’
No successor was named at press time.
In a statement, The Wiz described Koken as a ‘valued resource,’ and lauded him for his help in bringing the Cablevision unit out of bankruptcy. Koken has been with the 44-store chain for 15 years.
Separately in December parent company Cablevision announced that Jeffrey Yapp joined the company as group president of its retail division, which includes The Wiz. Yapp, formerly president/chief operating officer of the Hollywood Entertainment video chain, will be responsible for all aspects of the The Wiz’s operations.
