Rochester, N.Y. — Kodak introduced several new products today, including its first media player, an HD camcorder and its first wireless frames to access third-party content sites.
The $299 Kodak Theatre HD media player will be “rolled out in stages” Kodak said, with initial trials at Amazon.com and select Best Buy stores in September. Kodak will also sell it directly at Kodak.com
The media player connects to HDTVs and wirelessly to networked PCs via Wi-Fi. In addition to personal digital content, including videos, music and photos, the device can access Kodak’s Gallery Web site, the photo-sharing site Flickr, YouTube and the Internet radio site RadioTime.
The HD media player is also capable of receiving content streams from FrameChannel, which provides image- and content-streaming services for wireless digital photo frames.
The Theatre features slots for SD cards and USB flash drives and is controlled through a remote.
Kodak also took aim at the market for flash-memory-based camcorders with its Zi6 Pocket camcorder. It features a built-in USB plug and software for loading videos to YouTube. It records in HD (720p/60 fps in the H.264 codec) to SDHC memory cards or 128MB worth of internal memory.
The Zi6 features a 2.4-inch LCD, slow-motion video playback and includes video-editing software from Arcsoft. It ships in September for $179 in black or pink.
The company added two new wireless digital picture frames to its lineup. Both the 10-inch W1020 and 8-inch W820 frames can connect to Kodak Gallery, Flickr and FrameChannel for Internet content in addition to wireless home networks.
The widescreen frames feature the company’s Quick Touch Border interface, 512MB of internal memory, and include two interchangeable mattes in red and silver. The frames will be available in August. Pricing was not announced.
Finally, the company added two new digital cameras to its lineup. The 10-megapixel Z1015 IS packs a 15x optical zoom lens (28mm), 720p video recording, Kodak’s Smart Capture scene recognition technology, manual controls and ISO 6400 when snapping 3-megapixel stills.
Additional features include 64MB of internal memory, in-camera editing, face detection, image stabilization and in-camera slideshow creation.
It ships in September for $349.
Lastly, the 10-megapixel M1093 IS offers a 3x optical zoom lens, a 3-inch LCD, Smart Capture, 720p video recording, face detection and blur reduction. It will ship in September for $199 in black, silver or red.
