New York — Two heavyweight imaging rivals decided to bury the legal hatchet today as Kodak and Sony announced a patent cross-licensing agreement.
The deal was described by Kodak in a statement as “broad” and will give both companies access to the other’s patents. Kodak concluded a similar deal with Sony Ericsson.
The license agreements are royalty bearing to Kodak. Additional financial terms were not disclosed.
The deal brings to a close a lawsuit filed by Kodak against Sony in May 2004 alleging that Sony had infringed on 10 imaging-related patents.
