Fountain Valley, Calif. – Flash memory marketer Kingston announced the latest version of its DataTraveler USB flash drive with the U3 operating system.
The drives will be preloaded with Pass2Go, ACDSee and Zinio software packages designed to run off of U3-enabled USB drives. Pass2Go is a data security program and automated password manager, form filler, and password generator. ACDSee is a digital imaging program for managing and sharing digital images. Finally, Zinio is a “reader” program for turning print magazines into a digital format Users receive four free issues of six popular titles of digital publications, and can then subscribe to additional titles at a discount.
The U3 operating system, developed by SanDisk and M-Systems, is designed to turn USB flash drives into computing systems. Programs written for U3 drives can run exclusively off of a flash drive without leaving trace files on a host PC.
Kingston’s drives will be available in 1GB and 2GB capacities for suggested retails of $47 and $75, respectively.
