KBIS, IBS Regaining Majap Momentum

LAS VEGAS – The Kitchen/Bath Industry Show (KBIS), which had fallen from grace in recent recessionary years as center stage for all things majaps, is making an appliance comeback.

The event, which piggybacked with the International Builders’ Show (IBS) for the second year at the Las Vegas Convention Center last month, drew a growing roster of white-goods exhibitors, ranging from American Range and Equator, to Electrolux and Viking.

KBIS said its 51st annual show drew over 500 exhibitors, accommodated by the addition of 500,000 square feet in the South Hall, and 5 percent more attendees.

Total attendance during the combined Design & Construction Week, which also included separate design, flooring, tiling and window covering trade events, hit an estimated 125,000 dealers, designers, builders and suppliers, underscoring the shows’ favorable logistics and the recovering housing market.

Given the critical mass that KBIS and IBS bring in concert, the shows’ producers have expanded the partnership through 2020, with both events returning to Las Vegas next Jan. 19-21, and then moving to the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Fla., in January 2017 and 2018.
