JVC-TV Launches 50inch R-Series Set, Social-Media Promo

Irvine, Calif. — JVC-TV  introduced Monday a 50-inch R-series FullHD BlackCrystal edge-lit LED LCD TV featuring an ultra-slim bezel and 120Hz refresh rate.

At the same time, the company unveiled a monthly social-media product giveaway program. Beginning today, and continuing monthly, viewers who like the JVC-TV Facebook page or follow the company on Twitter at @JVC_TV, will be invited to enter an online contest to win a high-value prize.

Only one entry is allowed per giveaway. Visitors who click on the Facebook or Twitter links will be taken to an entry page that records name, address, phone and email contact information.

The prize will be awarded to a randomly drawn entry, pulled from both Facebook fans and Twitter entrants.

The giveaway debuts with the aforementioned JVC BlackCrystal BC50R LCD TV, which carries a $799 suggested retail. The BC50R includes CrystalColor technology JVC/AmTran’s XinemaSound 3D onboard sound enhancement and built-in speakers.

Also added is the company’s CrystalMotion video processing. The 50-inch model becomes the largest screen size in the BlackCrystal lineup, joining models that previously ranged from 32 to 47 inches.

“Today’s television is, by and large, bifurcated into two distinct classes — the upper end, which boast superior picture quality and enhanced smart streaming connectivity, and the value-oriented end, which lacks both,” said Drew Pragliola, sales and marketing VP at AmTran Video. “With the BlackCrystal line, we’re offering consumers a middle alternative — stunning video and audio performance, but without the built-in apps and media streaming that is redundant in many consumers’ A/V systems. And with the addition of the BC50R, we’re delivering it all at a new large screen size, with a gorgeous new ultra-slim, narrow-bezel design to boot.”

In addition to employing the same cross-talk canceling technology found in high-end soundbars to enhance channel separation and create a more lifelike surround sound effect, the XinemaSound 3D technology also applies an Equal Loudness Contour to the audio signal for perceptually balanced audio mix that sounds more natural to the ears across the entire sonic spectrum. There is also Clear Dialog processing, which adjusts the level of dialog in a sound.

The set includes smart local dimming for superior black levels and enhanced contrast; 2D motion-adaptive de-interlacing with automatic 3:2 and 2:2 reverse pull-down; color temperature adjustments with independent gain and offset; an Ambient Light Sensor, which automatically adjusts brightness to the room ambient light level for a more comfortable viewing experience; and a 6.5ms response time.

The dynamic contrast ratio is listed at 20,000,000:1 and the viewing angle is 178 degrees.

Other features in the new set include two HDMI inputs with Consumer Electronics Control (CEC), and one HDMI  port that supports Audio Return Channel (ARC) for simplified connectivity to A/V receivers by eliminating the need for an additional optical audio cable.

The BC50R reads JPEG photo files supplied on a connected USB thumb drive or other source device.
