JVC Targets New Everio To Early Adopters

JVC will introduce a new Everio camcorder targeted toward early adopters, the company said at its PMA press conference, here, last week.

The SD-card based Everio X will be the company’s first to incorporate a 10-megapixel CMOS sensor, capable of capturing 9-megapixel stills and recording AVCHD format HD video at 1,920 by 1,080 at 24MBps. The unit is also capable of recording slow motion video at 300 fps and 120 fps.

While shooting video, the unit can capture 5-megapixel still photos at a 60 fps burst mode for a total of 11 frames. In standard still photo mode, it can burst at 15 fps for up to 15 9-megapixel stills.

It will incorporate a new optical image-stabilization technology, which corrects for motion at the front of the lens. The Everio X will pack 15 scene modes, a 5x optical zoom lens, face detection, a 2.8-inch Laser touch-panel display, and dedicated YouTube uploading and iTunes transferring buttons.

It will ship in May or June for $999 in black.
