JVC, Sensio To Develop 3-D D-ILA System

Long Beach, Calif. — JVC Professional Products said at this week’s EH Expo West 2008 it has reached an agreement with Sensio Technologies to offer a high-end 3-D TV display solution to the consumer market.

The display system combines two JVC D-ILA projectors and a media server equipped with Sensio 3-D decoding technology.

The package enables the presentation of full 1080p resolution 3-D content, JVC said.

The D-ILA projectors, which the company said are widely used in commercial flight simulation systems, will produce a one of the highest native contrast ratios available without the use of an auto iris. JVC said the approach is “ideally suited for 3-D imaging systems.”

The two companies plan to develop the product for market in 2009, which plans for JVC Professional Products to market and sell it in the United States.

“Sensio is recognized as a pioneer in the 3-D industry, and JVC is the leading manufacturer in high-end home cinema. Combining our two technologies into a single, simple system for the consumer will have broad impact in the marketplace, already thirsty for 3-D display,” stated Lon Mass, JVC marketing VP.

“This is another important step to take and we are invariably approaching our ultimate goal of becoming the de facto standard,” added Nicholas Routhier, Sensio CEO.

At EH Expo West, JVC is showcasing the technology in a 3-D theater equipped with two DLA-RS2 projectors and Sensio’s S3D-PRO, second-generation product with Full HD 1080p stereoscopic video processing.
