New York – J&R
Computer and Music World has launched a same-day delivery service for customers
within the New York metro area.
The offer is good
on most items except movie and music software, and delivery fees vary by
neighborhood and weight of the order.
Orders placed by 1:00
p.m. will be delivered by 5:00 p.m., and orders placed by 3:00 p.m. will arrive
by 7:00 p.m., the company said, although areas in Long Island, New Jersey and Connecticut
may not receive deliveries until 9:00 p.m.
“We’re thrilled to
launch this unique, creative and easy-to-use service to our customers,” said
Jason Friedman, executive VP and son of J&R founders Joe and Rachelle
Friedman.
The service kicked
off this week with a “guerilla marketing” campaign that sent bike messengers
throughout Manhattan to deliver restaurant-style “take-out” menus that featured
CE items rather than food. In addition, the 38-year-old independent A/V and IT
specialty dealer ran contests on its Blog, Facebook, Twitter, Flickr and blog
sites, awarding J&R gift cards to the first 10 New Yorkers who uploaded a photo
of bike messengers.
“Our campaign
hopes to give back to the city of New York and the people who have been
invaluable to our success,” Freidman said.
