Jim Smith Joins GoVideo Team

Scottsdale, Ariz. — Jim Smith, a 25-year CE retail industry veteran who served for the past 11 years as the video buyer at Sears Roebuck & Co, has joined GoVideo in the newly created post of home products marketing VP.

Smith, 47, will assist GoVideo with global strategic marketing, product development, and inventory planning initiatives. His primary focus at GoVideo will be to enhance the company’s product sourcing and inventory management capabilities, as well as to design product marketing strategies to stay ahead of rapidly changing market conditions, GoVideo said.

Smith will play a crucial role in strategic sourcing and inventory planning to allow GoVideo to compete in product performance and price. He will report directly to Ed Brachocki, GoVideo’s CEO.

While at Sears, Smith held full profit-and-loss responsibility for one of chain’s largest product categories, and was instrumental in developing private label and brand derivative products.

Prior to joining Sears, Smith held marketing and buying positions with Tandy [now RadioShack] and Montgomery Ward.

“The current consumer electronics retail environment continues to evolve, and in order to be the best supplier in the industry you need to anticipate retailer changes and be a steady partner in their success,” said Brachocki. “With Jim’s experience and reputation, we’re confident that he’ll play a crucial role in enabling GoVideo to continue its growth and expansion. We’re excited that he is joining our team.”
